'‘HIV/AIDS is one of the biggest threats facing our world today. The Act Justly appeal is a challenging resource to help local churches engage with the issues and support those fighting HIV/AIDS on the front lines.'
|
The Act Justly video accompanies the Act Justly 2 booklet and the appeal and tells the story of a trip to Uganda by church leaders.
The video feeds back stories of hope in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS. It emphasises that social action alone is not enough - justice (tackling the root causes of poverty, such as debt and unjust trade) is also needed.
The video shows the benefits of debt relief and fair trade in Uganda, but points out that much more needs to be done. The video is narrated by Steve Chalke, with comment from Tony Campolo, Louise Donkin (SPEAK), Jim Wallis and Tom (NT) Wright.
The Act Justly video contains four sessions, each lasting approximately 10 minutes, on ‘A call to act justly’, ‘HIV/AIDS’, ‘Debt relief’ and ‘Trade justice’. The first session can be shown to the whole church to introduce the Act Justly appeal.
All four sessions can be watched in small groups to accompany a study of the Act Justly 2 booklet.
