'The number one rule here is respect your fellow contributors'
|
Internet discussion forums are great for debating issues, asking questions,
sharing information, and meeting people who share your interests.
But sometimes things go wrong, which is why we have a set of rules
which we ask people to agree to before they join the surefish.co.uk
forum.
The number one rule here is respect your fellow
contributors. In a perfect world this would go without saying, but
we are all humans and rather less than 100 per cent perfect. Before
you post your message, ask yourself if you would say the same words
if the person was standing in front of you.
Attack the issue, not the person. Strong and
lively debate is encouraged, but personal attacks are not. If you
can't state your argument without making it personal, please remove
yourself from the conversation.
The discussion space here allows you to be as
open or as private as you choose. When sharing seriously personal
information, remember that not everybody will agree with you, and
you might not receive the affirmation you're looking for. Be careful.
And if you're reading personal information someone else has shared,
please be mindful of the fact that it was probably painful and difficult
to share, and treat it accordingly.
Netiquette covers the basic rules of courtesy
for communicating on the internet. A few quick tips: correct punctuation
and spelling show that you respect others enough to take the time
to do it right. Posting in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS is widely regarded
as shouting and is considered to be extremely rude. Emoticons are
a useful way to convey the emotions behind the words, while abbreviations
and acronyms are the shorthand of the Internet.
Off-topic posts are the bane of every internet
bulletin board. When you post a message, please stick to the point
of the thread. There is nothing quite so frustrating and infuriating
as watching a good discussion go off on a tangent, never to be seen
or heard from again. If you want to talk about something else, start
a new topic.
Help keep things on track - the best communities
monitor themselves, so please do intervene if you feel a conversation
is getting a little heated. If you see postings that clearly violate
the rules above, please notify the editor, who can ensure that posts
are deleted from the board.
Therefore:
You agree, through your use of this surefish.co.uk
forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory,
inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane,
sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy,
or otherwise in violation of any law. This is not humorous and legal
action can be taken against you. You also agree not to post any
copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you, or you
have written consent from the owner of the copyrighted material.
Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes,
and solicitations are also inappropriate to this surefish.co.uk
forum.
surefish.co.uk does not control the information
on the message boards and cannot confirm the validity of posts or
warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any information
presented. surefish.co.uk has no obligation to monitor the message
boards. However, surefish reserves the right at all times to edit,
refuse to post or to remove any information or materials, in whole

The messages express the views of the author,
not necessarily the views of this surefish.co.uk forum. This policy
goes for member profile information as well. Anyone who feels that
a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to notify an administrator
of this forum immediately. We will remove objectionable content,
within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is
necessary.
You remain solely responsible for the content
of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless this
forum, and any related websites to this forum. surefish.co.uk reserves
the right to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any
applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request,
or to reveal your identity (or any information we have about you)
in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any information
posted by you.
You have the ability, as you register, to choose
your username. We advise that you keep the name appropriate. With
this user account you are about to register, you agree to never
give your password out to another member, for your protection and
for validity reasons. You also agree to never use another member's
account to post messages or browse this forum.
After you register and log into this surefish.co.uk
forum, you can fill out a detailed profile. It is your responsibility
to present clean and accurate information. Any information we deem
inaccurate or vulgar will be removed.
Please note that with each post, your IP
address is recorded, in the event that you need to be banned from
this surefish.co.uk forum or your ISP contacted. This will only
happen in the event of a major violation of this agreement.
